As useful as this substance is, it can be dangerous in the event of a leak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-bl-block-spacer\"><div class=\"is-style-small\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-explosion-and-fire-hazard-due-to-hexane\">Explosion and fire hazard due to hexane<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>n-Hexane is <strong>highly flammable<\/strong> and forms an explosive gas mixture with air even at <strong>room temperature<\/strong>. The most important hazards at a glance: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Explosion limit range<\/strong>: approx. <strong>1.1 % by volume (LEL)<\/strong> to <strong>7.5 % by volume (LEL)<\/strong> in air<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ignition temperature<\/strong>: approx. <strong>225 \u00b0C<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flash point<\/strong>: approx. <strong>-22 \u00b0C<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Density (gaseous)<\/strong>: heavier than air &#8211; it collects near the ground<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even small quantities in the air are enough to trigger an <strong>explosion<\/strong> or <strong>uncontrolled fires<\/strong> under certain conditions &#8211; for example through sparks, hot surfaces or static discharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-bl-block-spacer\"><div class=\"is-style-small\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-gas-detectors-are-essential-for-hexane\">Why gas detectors are essential for hexane<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hexane is <strong>colorless<\/strong> and <strong>odorless<\/strong> in low concentrations &#8211; a dangerous combination. <strong>Without suitable gas detectors<\/strong>, a leak often goes unnoticed until it is too late.
