Measurable gases
The following gases can be monitored with the ExDetector HC 150.
- Explosive gases
- explosive vapors
- Methane
- Ethan
- Propane
- Butane
- n-pentane
- n-hexane
This sensor is not suitable for monitoring solvent vapors.
Description
The ExDetector HC 150 sensor is used to measure the current concentration of explosive gases and vapors.
The ExDetector HC 150 can be used to detect explosive gases and vapors in the measuring range from 0 to 100 % LEL. The measuring principle is based on catalytic combustion (heat tinting). This measuring principle can be used to monitor a large number of gases, e.g. hydrogen and hydrocarbons.
It meets all the criteria for use in Ex zone 2 and in areas of functional safety in accordance with SIL-1.
Variant for duct installation and high ambient temperatures:
ExDetector HC 150 K
The ExDetector HC 150-K sensor was specially developed for duct installation and has a transmitter that is separate from the measuring head. It can be mounted on duct shafts using a mounting flange in order to detect hazardous gas concentrations inside.
This special combination is also used to measure the current concentration of explosive gases and vapors in a pipe network.
A particularly unique feature of this combination: the remote sensor in the measuring head of the HC 150 K sensor module, our “duct sensor”, can be used in an environment up to max. 80 degrees Celsius inside the duct, while the more temperature-sensitive components (up to 55 degrees Celsius) perform their duties outside these critical temperatures. A unique solution for problematic temperatures and atmospheres.
Functionality of the ExDetector HC 150 within a gas warning system:
The ExDetector HC150 series sensors in combination with evaluation systems have the following functions:
- Measurement and display of the current concentration of explosive gases and vapors
- Monitoring or warning of these gases
- Triggering of protective measures:
– Technical: The increase in concentration is counteracted (fans; shutdowns….)
– Organizational: Visual and acoustic messages
- A gas warning system consists of the following components:
– Sensor
– Evaluation system
– Controllable devices such as fans, warning signs and solenoid valves
Accessories for the ExDetector HC 150:
- Test gas set
- Calibration gases
- Evaluation devices
- Mounting bracket
- Remote gassing adapter FBA 2018
