ExDetector X5
Advanced Gas Detector Transmitter

ExDetector X5 – Unparalleled Versatility in ATEX Gas Detection
The ExDetector X5 is a gas detector approved for use in explosive environments of ATEX Zones 1 and 2, as well as dust environments of Zones 21 and 22.
It measures and displays the current concentrations of explosive or toxic gases and vapors. If required, it can be equipped with two sensor heads simultaneously. This allows the X5 to detect different gases using different measurement principles and sensor technologies at the same time.
Key Features of the X5:
- Contactless calibration by just one person
- Two independent sensor heads
- Two analog outputs, three relays
- 2-wire BUS communication
Multiple Configuration Options for the ExDetector X5
- The X5 transmitter can be seamlessly integrated into our addressable 2-wire BUS system and communicate with digital controllers such as GMC 750, GMC 650, GMC 635 Plus/Micro and GMC 650 switchboard.
- Alternatively, the X5 can be used as a 4–20 mA gas detector, compatible with evaluation devices such as the new GMC 8034 and GMC 8032.
- Additionally, the X5 can operate as a stand-alone unit, acting as a compact controller with extensive functionality.
Plug-and-Play Sensor Heads for the X5
- The ExDetector X5 automatically updates itself when one of our plug-and-play sensor heads is attached. No manual setup is required – our industry-leading long-life sensors handle this for you.
- The X5 can monitor over 400 flammable, toxic or asphyxiant gases, as well as oxygen, making it one of the most versatile detectors on the market and suitable for a wide range of applications.
Installation and Operation of the X5
- Easy to install, user-friendly, and highly durable
- Designed for wall mounting (optional ceiling mounting brackets available)
- Clear digital display of gas concentrations, alarms, and system errors using a traffic light system
- Remote operation possible via controller when connected to a BUS system
Status Monitoring – Everything at a Glance
The LED status display of the ExDetector X5 is bright enough to remain visible even in dark or dusty environments. It provides immediate status indication:
- Green – Everything is OK
- Red – Alarm, hazardous gas detected
- Orange – System fault
